Deborah L. Rotman, Author, Historian, Archaeologist
About
Dr. Deb Rotman has been a life-long lover of history. Even as a child, she preferred to visit Colonial Williamsburg over Disney World. Her curiosity about the past led to more than three decades of working as a professional historical archaeologist with academic, cultural resource management, and non-profit organizations. In 2015-2016, Deb was a Fulbright US Scholar with the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (now Atlantic Technological University) in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland.
Deb’s work has long focused on how the lives of ordinary individuals intersect with extraordinary historical moments and events. Her current book, Grandpa the Cowboy: A Young Man’s Journey through the American West, tells the story of her paternal great-grandfather’s time as a cowboy out West (1904-1910).
Her forthcoming book will focus on the history and archaeology of Irish immigrants to America with a planned release early in 2023.
